PrescriptFit™ Medical Nutrition Therapy program uses an amino acid food product combined with all major food groups in a strategy to improve nutrition and metabolism while controlling calories. PrescriptFit™ Nutrition Therapy does not try to control meal portions since portion control is difficult to maintain long term. Instead, patients use a scientifically engineered shake or soup product with meals. The shakes or soups alter the amount of food consumed and improves the metabolism of the food eaten. The Prescript Fit™ food products may be used as sole nutrition when combined with a multivitamin. Eight scoops (doses) of PrescriptFit™ products per day plus a multivitamin assure perfect basic nutrition for any individual with excess weight. Food groups added are focused toward low fat, healthier choices for most meals. Pizza may fit that low fat alternative.

Pizza Craver volunteers will be asked to eat only pizza and PrescriptFit™ shake, soup or pudding products for 6 weeks. The amount of pizza consumed (Domino’s Regular Classic or Thin crust) is unrestricted but must be eaten with a shake or soup. Multivitamin tablets provided will be taken once daily with the pizza and shakes.

The amount (slices) of pizza eaten per day and number of scoops (doses) of PrescriptFit™ shake, soup or pudding product will be recorded on a daily Calendar Worksheet. There is no limit to the number of pizza slices as long as at least 8 scoops or more of PrescriptFit™ products are consumed each day with pizza.

Eating any other foods or beverages during the six weeks is called “Splurging” and will be marked by a asterisk ( * ) in the Calendar Worksheet. The amount or type of food or beverage Splurged upon is not relevant. Only recording ( * ) the Splurge is required for the study.

Vouchers for one (1) free pizza will be awarded for submission of Calendar Worksheet subtotal data every two weeks to Study Coordinator (rowen@drdiet.com). A separate Symptom Score Sheet to record symptoms will be provided for submission at study end.
